PEople portraits

Let’s Celebrate you!

Celebrate your family, love-story or friendship with a custom digital portrait, delivered as a fine art print that captures your connection on paper and will look beautiful in any home.

The best part? With the awesome power of illustration we can create your dream scene. Doggo couldn’t be at the wedding but he’s just as much a part of the family as Uncle Bill? I’ll paint her into the picture.

My new look portraits are elegant, minimal and distinctively, always feature the subjects looking at one another. I feel strongly that having subjects look at each other allows me to express a feeling of closeness so much more naturally than if they look out at the viewer.

The most important thing is that I want this portrait to look and feel like you! In my artistic style, of course.

Reading the following information and answering the questions in the form below (The Nitty Gritty) is the best way to help me to create the best possible portrait!

WORKING TOGETHER
TO MAKE A GREAT IMAGE

TONE OF THE PIECE

I want to capture as much of your personalities and relationship in the piece as possible. The result may be subtle but I will try and take into account the tone that you request and make choices such as pose or expression accordingly.

Example responses: ‘our playfulness’, ‘our steadiness’, ‘big romantics at heart’

STYLE

I wish to accurately capture the subjects as simply and elegantly as possible. The finished product will be refined black/single colour line work that is expressive but minimal.

APPEARANCE SPECIFICS

We’re all at different places on the journey to self love and I want this portrait process to be as positively affirming and helpful on that path as possible.

It will help me know what to focus on if you let me know what features are faves and what you might feel self conscious or sensitive about.

For example, I'm not a huge fan of my nose but it’s also quite a distinctive feature so when immortalising myself in a portrait I tried to capture the vibe but not get too specific about lumps and bumps of my profile etc.

Conversely, my husband Andy's curly hair is a signature (and beloved) feature on him so I had to make sure that was accurately captured.

Be sure to also let me know how you want to be dressed and any other details of significance.

How to select the best REFERENCE PHOTOs to get the best result

Good quality, well lit reference photos make a huge difference for me!

A great hero image can work wonders but the more photos the better.

Ideally you’ll have one image of the subjects that is close to what you want captured. I can make changes to expressions, colours, clothing etc but if you have a photo in your ideal pose that is super helpful! If that’s not possible, something that shows me your respective scale to one another is really important.

Additional photos are a great help as well. They allow me to get a better sense of the two of you and give me reference options if I need to make detail changes.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD PHOTO?

  • Natural lighting - ideally well lit but without strong shadows.

  • A straight on angle - if the camera is significantly higher or lower than the subjects it will affect the apparent proportions of the subjects.

  • Decent photo quality - phones these days generally take good quality photos it can just come down to how the images are shared. Make sure you emailing the largest image size you can.
